What is website testing?
Companies pay testers to use their websites or apps and narrate their experience out loud, what they find confusing, what works well, and where they get stuck. This user testing helps developers improve their products. Tests typically take 15–20 minutes and pay £5–£15 each.
You don't need any technical knowledge. You just need a computer, a microphone, and the ability to talk through what you're thinking as you navigate a site.
How much can you earn?
Test availability is the limiting factor, most testers complete 3–8 tests per month rather than per week. At £10 per test, that's £30–£80/month on UserTesting alone. Adding 2–3 other platforms brings this to £80–£150/month for consistent testers.
This is one of the lower-earning options on this site, but it requires no investment, minimal setup, and genuinely flexible hours. It's best treated as supplementary income alongside higher-earning strategies.
How to get accepted and earn more
The sample test is the gatekeeper. Speak clearly and continuously, the biggest reason for rejection is silence. Narrate everything: 'I'm looking for the navigation menu, I can see it at the top, I'm going to click on Products...' Genuine reactions and honest criticism are valuable. Don't try to sound positive, testers who flag problems are the most useful.
Respond to test invitations quickly. Tests are sent to a pool of qualified testers and the first to accept get them. Email notifications with quick mobile access means more tests.
